I really love this affordable, moderately priced restaurant and cannot recommend it enough! Herb library is my go-to spot for a guaranteed great meal when visiting Ubud, Bali. I have both dined in and ordered carry out several times.

Lots of delicious choices on the menu. All ingredients are extremely fresh and locally sourced. A variety of plant-based dishes are offered as well as nicely flavored fish and chicken options.

Menu selections I have thoroughly enjoyed during various visits include: Yellow Pumpkin Soup (yellow pumpkin, ginger and coconut); Pepes Barramundi (fish, herbs, spices, coconut rice, chili samba and local vegetables); Carrot and Healing Roots Bisque (carrots, ginger, turmeric, kencur and coconut milk).

Expect great flavor and presentation.

Herb Library often contracts with local musicians for live entertainment. The restaurant also seems to have a weekly Latin music/ dance night.

Ambiance - Relaxed , casual and friendly. I usually dine alone and feel very comfortable. Although most guests are tourist, I never feel as though I am in a tourist spot.

Service - Good. English spoken.

Location - Central Ubud - very close to Ubud Palace. Next door to Tejas Spa and Adiwana Jembawan hotel.

Price - I had a 3 course meal including drink for about $20.00 - not the cheapest one can find; but for the ambiance, quality of food and service Herb Library is worth every penny!!

Hours of operation - Daily 7am to 11pm
